Here is a list of just some of the design benefits…
The Equalizer™ “flexible” weight material was invented and patented by an advanced material development contractor for NASA while developing metal matrix composites for aerospace applications. This results in an extremely comfortable fit around your wrists and/or ankles when not being used on the Weight Distribution Slide (single weight shown above on the WDS.)
The Equalizer™ is a fitness device that, when used properly and consistently as part of your fitness regimen, you will see your level of fitness improve proportionate to the time, effort, and discipline you invest. In other words, use it and you will experience a higher degree of fitness.
If you find you need to make an adjustment to accommodate a larger band, you can easily do so with the “toolkit” (a simple Allen Wrench!) that comes with The Equalizer™. (See below)
The Equalizer™ arrives to you fully assembled (along with accessories) and the collars are pre-set at the optimal position for a small, medium, and large band. If you are a Beast and are going to use a very wide resistance band, then you may opt to move the collars slightly inward on the bar to accommodate the additional width of the larger band. The Equalizer™ resistance settings are fully customizable to the experience and fitness level of the User.
The Equalizer™ is built using the highest quality material on the market.
NOTE: Based on the WDS design and simple physics, using mechanical advantage (also called leverage) will multiply force. In other words, a light weight can be easily altered through leverage to create a very significant weight. You will instantly feel the difference in weight once you begin using The Equalizer™.
The next page will provide a more detailed description of the components used to construct The Equalizer™, making it one of the most versatile and unique fitness devices available.
NOTE: The wrist/ankle weights can be removed from the Equalizer™ and used independently when you walk, run, box, or perform Martial Arts training, etc. They are the most comfortable weights you can use, and are adjustable by adding or removing the flex-metal inserts. If you find the weight too light, add an insert. As you get stronger, you can add an additional weight insert to The Equalizer™.
It is important that whatever decision you make to improve your overall health and fitness is based on a promise and commitment to yourself. You alone must decide you will do whatever it takes to add quality years to your life!
You will not get fit overnight. It may take several weeks to begin noticing a difference in how you feel. It may take several months if you have been sedentary for a long period of time and are just now realizing how important it is to get healthy. That includes eating healthy and engaging in challenging physical activity as a lifestyle, not a hobby or just to get ready for an event (e.g., wedding, vacation, etc.) If you are ready to get serious about improving your level of fitness and making your health a priority, then The Equalizer™ is an excellent first and lasting step.
From Start…To Fitness™ —We know The Equalizer™ and our trademarked training programs work. They are highly effective and unique within the fitness industry. The Equalizer™ as well as our 20 other training routines are all original—just like you!
It is important to start with a goal in mind. Give yourself a reasonable period to reach it. Surround yourself with like-minded, positive people and simply take that first step. You may be just beginning your journey into fitness or are changing directions in your path to something that may promise to be better or need to ease back from an injury. The Equalizer™ and our programs are designed for those who use it for rehabilitation or as a key part of their Beast Training and everything in between! The Equalizer™ and our fitness routines work—if you do!
What is the quality of this product?
Every component of The Equalizer™ is made of high-quality material. No corners were cut in the selection of what went into the construction of The Equalizer™. Even the accessories were researched carefully to insure they measured up to the same identical standards that went into the selection of the raw materials that make up The Equalizer™. For example, there are hundreds of resistance bands on the market, and we selected one made of layered latex for high resistance to breakage and tear. The door anchor and tri-cep pulldown are accessories that our designers have personally used for years in their training and have never once had one fail on them under the most rigorous use. The wrist weights (which can also serve as ankle weights) are made of special materials that include a unique flex-metal compound product for fit and comfort.
The Equalizer™ bar can handle whatever level of training it is subjected to! It is made of extremely strong ‘thick wall’ industrial level fiberglass. It is not a “2-piece” or “collapsible” bar. Therefore, there are no ‘weak’ points at the center that may bend, weaken, or snap over time with use resulting in potential injury and destruction to the device. The Equalizer™ bar is ergonomically designed to be used by anyone, male or female, at any level of fitness, while still being compact enough to fit inside your luggage to simply pack and go! And, with the entire Equalizer™ plus Fit-Kit package weighing less than 5 pounds you will not have to worry about extra luggage fees.
The Equalizer™ is one of the most effective ways to train and condition your whole body while mimicking real world movement. In the real world, loads are rarely perfectly balanced. You lift and carry your kids, your groceries, yard tools, imperfectly balanced boxes, etc. Thanks to the disproportionate weight displacement of The Equalizer™, you will optimize your stabilizer muscles, joints, and primary power centers. The Equalizer™ is one of the most effective ways to build core and rotational strength.
Most anything you can do with a barbell, dumbbell, steel mace or resistance band you can do with The Equalizer™ and much more. Build strength, improve flexibility as well as joint mobility and coordination. You will also create more muscle recruitment due to the variability of the resistance band and the versatility of the weight distribution slide. When this occurs more muscle fibers will kick in to stabilize the band and when you switch to using the weight distribution slide the mechanical dynamics create an entirely new element in additional muscle targeting and recruitment. And there is so much more!
The Equalizer™ will aid in rehabilitation so you can get back to a quality level of well-being and fitness faster and with far less risk of reinjuring yourself.
The Equalizer™ will increase and strengthen your natural movement patterns that you use in daily activities such as following through on a golf swing, throwing a ball, opening a door, lifting a child, or simply walking up and down stairs.
There are Training Videos on how to use The Equalizer™ safely and effectively and you will have free access to additional Equalizer™ training videos as they become available.
You will also receive a complimentary full-body functional movement training course called "FortiFIT™" (Fortification through FITness) that you can opt to continue for a monthly fee. There are no obligations. These are live ZOOM training sessions. You have the option to continue your training if you want to learn additional martial arts and self-defense techniques (Designed by Black Belt trainers with decades of experience.)
Martial Arts Training is, by far, one of the most effective ways to optimize your health and fitness—both in Mind and Body! This type of training is never boring, always interesting and builds character all while creating a skillset that few other forms of simple exercise can match.
Maintain NORMAL control of your movement during any exercise. If you find yourself using your entire body or the momentum of the device to complete an exercise, then lighten up! You are engaging a particular muscle or muscle group to perform a particular movement. Allow yourself time to increase your level of fitness, and to learn and trust the process.
The following areas are incorporated into all our training modules:
The Equalizer™ enhances Functional Movement Training (FMT) which engages nearly every muscle in your body, conditioning it to Perform at 2nd NATURE™ Level.
How can something so light be strong enough to handle heavy resistance?
We have invested an extraordinary amount of time and research into the design and construction of The Equalizer™. The result of numerous iterations is a 'simple machine' that is both incredibly strong, yet lightweight resulting in what we call "Versatility in Motion." This means you direct the leverage (motion, control, and power) of the device, and it becomes an extension of you! It is a multipurpose simple machine that performs in a complex manner in terms of its effect on your fitness training. The resistance uses a weight distribution slide (part of the overall patent pending design of the device) which you, the User, controls. The stronger you get as you increase the leverage over time, the more effective The Equalizer™ becomes.
*Keep in mind that these are *standard "fixed" points for reference only (examples). You can place the weight distribution slide anywhere on the device that best suits your current level of strength and control.
The weight of The Equalizer™ does not diminish its strength, durability, and effectiveness. This is an intentional component of the design. When we say "Less is MORE™" that applies to the weight of The Equalizer™. The patent pending design and lightweight components are key to the strength and versatility of the device.
In the "stripped down" version, The Equalizer™ becomes so light, yet so strong, that it can be used as a self-defense weapon.
— Albert Einstein
The Equalizer™, by design, is a “Simple Machine.” A simple machine is defined as something that will make work easier by multiplying, reducing, or changing the direction of a force and by changing the distance the force acts through.
Simple machines are useful because they reduce effort or extend the ability of people to perform tasks beyond their normal capabilities. Simple machines that are widely used include the wheel and axle, pulley, inclined plane, screw, wedge, and lever.
Simple systems have fewer moving parts that can break, making them more reliable.
One way to overcome the complexity bias is Occam’s razor. It states that the simplest solution or explanation is usually the right one. Thus, let’s not be too quick to dismiss simple ideas or add unnecessary complexity to justify their worth.
simplicity is a strength, not a weakness. People are much more likely to adopt simple methods, and simple ones are also typically more interpretable and intuitive.
The Equalizer™ uses leverage!
Leverage is an idea which humans have used to great effect for thousands of years, enabling them to gain disproportionate strength. For example, the ancient Egyptians used levers to lift stones weighing up to 100 tons to build the pyramids and obelisks. Many of humanity’s tools, used for centuries all over the world, incorporate levers - scissors, pliers, wheelbarrows, fishing rods and more.
“Leverage is built on the idea that small, well-focused actions can produce significant, enduring improvements if they are applied in the right place.”
How can wrist & ankle weights that are less than 3-lbs. be effective?
Part of the versatility of The Equalizer™ is found in the Wrist & Ankle weights.
Ankle weights are safe when used properly. If you are experiencing pain in the ankles or knees, it is not recommended to use ankle weights. However, many people use weights to help the rehabilitation process after surgery. Follow your doctor's advice .
Ankle weights that weigh 1 to 3 pounds can increase your oxygen intake and heart rate by up to 10 percent and up to five beats per minute. This provides more benefit for the heart. Heavy ankle weights can put excessive strain on the knee and hip joints—not to mention the back; that makes heavier weights generally inappropriate.
The Equalizer™ weights are lightweight (1 to 2 pounds as selected depending on the User’s health and fitness level.) They are also exceptionally comfortable using patented components. Heavy ankle weights cause changes in your gait pattern and possibly produce muscular imbalances. We do not recommend using ‘heavy’ ankle weights (greater than 2 pounds per ankle) that can lead to injury, joint and tendon stress.
DON’T BE FOOLED INTO BELIEVING YOU NEED TO WEAR CEMENT BLOCKS ON YOUR WRISTS AND FEET TO GAIN STRENGTH!
Heavier weights will force you to use your quadriceps (the muscles in the fronts of the thighs) and not your hamstrings (in the backs of the thighs) resulting in muscle imbalance. Heavy ankle weights also pull on the ankle joint, which poses the risk of tendon or ligament injuries to the knees, hips, and back.
The weight inserts consist of atomized high iron suspended in a flexible polymer matrix which is non-toxic. The weight is compounded to be the same durometer (softness) as human skin. This allows the weights to easily move, bend and conform to the shape of the wearer for optimal fit and comfort as well as for the user’s safety. The complete product provides enough weight to get you Fit without the unnecessary risk of injury. Remember: Less is MORE!
How is The Equalizer™ different from using dumbbells and free weights?
The Equalizer™ is a patent pending fitness device that is uniquely designed to provide full-body, functional movement training for anyone of any age whether the purpose of the training is to rehabilitate, train for a specific sport, or just become a beast! The Equalizer™ is not a cheap, gimmicky, 'gym-toy-of-the-month.'
Every component of The Equalizer™ was researched and selected based upon its respective strength, weight, and material quality. The Equalizer™ was then tested and retested for its intended purpose and overall functionality until it was shown to perform exactly as intended.
The Equalizer™ is a mechanical device that changes the direction or magnitude of a force. In general, The Equalizer™ can be defined as a mechanism that uses mechanical advantage (also called leverage) to multiply force.
You don't need to invest in an entire set of bands. All you need is one band that you can lift with moderate to heavy resistance while maintaining safe control. The Equalizer™ will allow you to use a single band for multiple exercises without having to stop and change to a "stronger" band.
The Equalizer™ provides two bands. One light (red) resistance band that can be used by those who are in rehabilitation (from an injury), or by younger users where the heavy (black) band is too challenging, or by anyone where they may feel more comfortable using the lighter band while learning how to use The Equalizer™. OPTIONAL (purple) band is available as a separate purchase and used by those who are very strong!
With resistance bands, you will feel tension throughout the entire range of motion. You don’t have to rely on gravity as you do with free weights (dumbbells or barbells) to create the resistance. The constant tension that resistance bands offer is extremely important in building muscle, spurring a degree of metabolic stress and pump, which free weights lack.
Another key benefit of using resistance bands for building muscle is their ability to work in multiple planes. With free weights (as well as weight plates found on machines using pulleys) resistance only applies in one vertical plane, which is due to gravity. With bands, you are not confined to gravity’s pull. The Equalizer™ and the bands are the resistance.
Since The Equalizer™ is not influenced by gravity you are able to perform hundreds of exercises that weights cannot equal.
Considering the advantages of linear variable resistance, multi-plane capability coupled with constant tension, and the added convenience of being lightweight, portable, and cost-effective, there is no downside to The Equalizer™ training.
Will The Equalizer™ help me develop a STRONG GRIP?
A STRONG GRIP cannot be underestimated! Using The Equalizer™ requires you to employ gravity while simultaneously fighting against it. This disproportionate weight displacement (aided by our Weight Distribution Slide) increases the difficulty of normal movements and accentuates all muscles in the hands, wrists, and forearms (over 60 muscles!) This leads to a strong grip which translates to overall better health and fitness.
The international Prospective Urban and Rural Epidemiological (PURE) study conducted in 2015 followed the health of 140,000 adults in 17 countries over approximately four years. This study showed a significant correlation that as grip strength decreases, the risk of cardiovascular disease increases. The study used a dynamometer device to assess participants grip strength. “Each 11-pound decrease in grip strength over the course of the study was linked to a 17% higher risk of dying from heart disease, a 9% higher risk of stroke, and a 7% higher risk of heart attack” (Lewine, 2015). An article was published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine researching grip strength as a marker for both diabetes and hypertension. This study found similar results as the one mentioned above.
Participants with a lower grip strength were more likely to be diabetic or record a higher blood pressure.
For those in sports there are two sporting grips that are deemed common:
1. Precision—for grasping sphere-shaped objects (e.g., a baseball, or a football)
2. Power—for grasping cylindrical-shaped objects (e.g., club, bat, racket, stick, & paddle).
The Equalizer™ by itself will help you achieve incredible results. To take your arm and grip strength to another level, we've added an "Iso-Donut" that can be used during your off-time. Think of it as a way to relieve stress much like a ‘stress ball’ that are common.
The orange Iso-Donut = 50 lbs. Resistance. When not using them in training, carry them with you anywhere. They are small and very effective. Your Equalizer™ package comes with one 50 lb. donut.
Get a Grip and Get Full-Body Benefits!
Virtually every upper-body exercise involves your shoulder muscles. Your shoulders are one of the most important and powerful muscle groups in your body. The muscles of the shoulder play a critical role in providing stability to the shoulder joint.
Shoulders are the most injured joints in the body. The unique and complex anatomy of the shoulder makes it the joint with the greatest range of motion but the least stability. Thus, it is more susceptible to strain, repetitive injuries, and aging than other joints.
The extraordinarily complex shoulder joint is a ball and socket joint with the most extensive range of motion in the human body. The muscles of the shoulder have a wide range of functions, including abduction, adduction, flexion, extension, internal and external rotation.
Your shoulders play a part in just about every single upper body movement. Your shoulder can move in multiple planes of motion and perform multiple functions so any sort of limitation can be potentially dangerous and may even cause injury. Flexible shoulders (shoulder mobility) increase your strength and decrease the amount of load that your bones, ligaments, and joints must bear. The primary reason that people lack mobility of the shoulders is usually due to poor posture. Not a surprise given that the average American typically sits for anywhere between 75-80% of the day where most of this time is spent with the arms in front of the body on the computer or in a hunched forward position.
The Complex Design of the Shoulder...
Strengthened by the Simple Design of
The Equalizer™
Patented Wrist/Ankle Weights: As mentioned previously, these the weights are made of a Flexible Polymer Composite by an advanced material development contractor for NASA. As a result, you will experience exceptional fit and comfort. These weights provide the weight distribution on The Equalizer™ and are also used as wrist and/or ankle weights for punching and kicking when not using The Equalizer™.
ISO Donut! The Donut is designed to offer a way to further improve your grip strength. You squeeze the Donut as a fidget-widget or stress reliever. Option: With a small purchase of a 2nd Iso-Donut, the 2 Donuts can be used to help your punching skills. This added element provides a secondary isometric strengthening technique and helps to create the correct biomechanical positioning of the hand, wrist, and forearm.
Result: Strong, devastating punches! The ISO Donut is small enough to easily fit comfortably in your pocket. Use it to simply ‘get a grip’ while out and about. Get in your 5-minute squeeze per hand while shopping or hanging out at the coffee shop. It is small enough not to draw attention—unless you are wearing short sleeves and people are staring at your incredibly strong forearms.
Door Anchor: A door anchor is a common accessory that is often used by those who use resistance bands where access to gym equipment is limited, or you are confined to small spaces such as in a hotel or a dorm room. There are multiple exercises you can do with a door anchor and resistance band if you desire to add some diversity to your workout routine or simply need to get a quick workout in. The anchor/band combination is a small, but effective, part of The Equalizer™ program.
Allen Wrench: Although you are not likely to ever need it, we have included an Allen Wrench in case a collar may need to be tightened or adjusted to accommodate a more tailored or customized fit to the User. This should not be necessary, but we will leave that up to the User based on his or her personal needs and preferences.
Carry Bag: This convenient bag will
hold your entire Equalizer™ kit!
Foam Roller: Foam rolling releases muscle knots, relieves inflammation, and improves overall comfort. It can also increase your range of motion, flexibility, and mobility while boosting circulation and lymphatic flow. Avoid rolling over small joints like your knees, elbows, and ankles, which could cause you to hyperextend or damage them. Instead, when foam rolling your legs, roll out your calves first and then your quads separately, avoiding the knee area.
Spiky Ball:
Proprioception, otherwise known as kinesthesia, is your body’s ability to sense movement, action, and location. It’s present in every muscle movement you have. It is especially important to have good proprioception in the feet, because they are the first contact point that we have to the ground. This means that they play a critical role in balance and reaction time.
The foot contains an incredible number of bones, joints, muscles, and amazing biomechanics. The feet are composed of 26 bones and 33 joints. Proprioceptors live in ligaments, and ligaments connect bones to make joints. There are lots of bones, joints, and ligaments that can be activated—therefore lots of proprioceptors.
You can stimulate the proprioceptors in the foot by using a gentle pressure over the inside of the foot.
The small spikes reduce pain, and calm inflammation. They can also activate the inner nerve in your foot called the Deep Peroneal Nerve that’s responsible for firing all the little muscles in your foot, ankle, and lower leg that basically catch you from falling.
Deep Peroneal Nerve
The Triceps Pulldown Strap: The triceps brachii muscle is located at the rear of the upper arm and has three components: the long, lateral, and medial heads. If you want to build up your arms, working all three heads of your triceps is key, and the triceps pulldown does just that.
Triceps Pulldowns also benefit your overall strength and endurance by engaging your core, back, and shoulders. The muscles that make up the triceps are vulnerable to overuse injury from repetitive activities like throwing, swimming, and hammering motions. Repetitive stress injuries of the triceps can be prevented by training the triceps.
This Triceps training improves functional movement fitness and tones your arms. There are many everyday tasks that cannot be performed without help from your triceps.

Things to remember:
The Equalizer™ plus the accessories shown above weigh less than 6-lbs. and fits into any standard check-in suitcase so you can quickly and easily pack-n-go on that business trip, vacation, or short getaway.
With The Equalizer™ You can be confident you have what you need to get that full workout in!
Before you access the “How to Use The Equalizer™” videos and/or ‘how to’ pictures we want to go over some safety and proper use advice.
As with any device, safety starts with you, the User. As with any fitness equipment, safety includes form and patience. We cannot be responsible for anything that happens if a User misuses or pushes themselves beyond a limit they have not yet trained for. If you do not listen to a Professional Coach or Trainer, you are responsible for your own success or failure and whatever happens to you. If a User makes up their own routine(s), they must realize there can be risks if they do not think through every step of their ‘own’ routine. Our staff created The Equalizer™ routines based on years (decades) of fitness training experience. Even with our expert-level training it still took us well over a year to create the current version of The Equalizer™ and to fine-tune the routines you will see in The Equalizer™ Basic Instructions.
NOTE: The User will need to invest time and patience to successfully reach their goals. You will not find false or misleading promises with our products and training. We take your health and fitness aspirations seriously. It is our promise and passion to help you understand how you can reach your goals. We will not do that through gimmicks, tricky slogans, or equipment that has not been proven to work as designed. You will find many ‘shiny objects’ (promises) that have little to nothing to do with fitness objectives.
NOTE! We expect all Users to exercise not only their bodies but their common sense. One area is the use of resistance bands. They will not last forever! We advise you to inspect your bands periodically for deterioration. Below are pictures that illustrate that it is time to replace your resistance band.
A close look at this band will reveal several areas that provide warning signals that it is time to replace your resistance band…
